Casa Grande is a dynamic, progressive city with a rural heritage and hometown appeal. Its economic base is a mix of manufacturing, health care, agriculture, logistics and retail. Founded in 1879, Casa Grande was named for the famous Hohokam Indian Ruins 20 miles to the northeast. Midway between Phoenix and Tucson, the city has grown to be the largest community in Pinal County since its incorporation in 1915.
Casa Grande is strategically located at the intersection of two interstate highways (I-8 and I-10), in an area known as Arizona's Golden Corridor. The city is served by the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad and the Casa Grande Municipal Airport. Once dependent on agriculture and mining, the community has evolved into a diversified full-service area with manufacturing, health care, agriculture, logistics, retail trade, government and tourist-related employment. The Promenade at Casa Grande, featuring many upscale fashion stores, and Sam’s Club are both located along I-10 in Casa Grande.
Casa Grande's proximity to the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas, direct access to two major interstates and the Union Pacific railroad and robust infrastructure have helped attracted innovative companies and projects such as PhoenixMart, a 1.75 million square foot international business-to-business sourcing center. Other companies attracted to the area include Lucid Motors, the next generation of electric vehicles, and Attesa Motorsports, a 2,500-acre master planned project featuring two professional racetracks. Research and development, industrial, retail, commercial and residential elements are flooding into the city and Pinal County.
Casa Grande’s location, mild climate for eight months of the year, friendly residents and numerous events and activities make it attractive to tourists and winter visitors, as well as to residents. Renowned events include the Arizona State Open Chili Championship held on the first Saturday in March; Cowboy Days & O'Odham Tash, a week-long rodeo event held in February; Historic Downtown Street Fair and Car/Bike Show in January; and the Cactus Antique Aircraft Fly-In in March, plus many more.
Casa Grande’s Performance Institute is home to the Grande Sports World, an elite training facility that is home to FC Barcelona's development academy. The institute hosts Major League Soccer teams, as well as national and Olympic teams who come to train and play at the facility.
Casa Grande offers a broad range of community facilities including one senior center, two museums, two libraries, fitness centers, a teen center, a public pool, a regional mall that has a movie complex and a number of golf courses. The city has more than 18 parks with ramadas, miles of hiking trails, handball courts, tennis courts, softball diamonds and playground equipment to be enjoyed.
