PHOENIX, AZ  The Arizona Commerce Authority announced 25 companies will move on as semifinalists for the first round of the 2012 Arizona Innovation Challenge. A panel of expert judges evaluated more than 300 applications from start-ups, judging each on a set of criteria including technology potential, marketing strategy, management team, and the potential for job and wealth creation. Finalists will be named in mid-April, with winners selected in May. Winning companies will receive anywhere between $100,000 to $250,000.

OptumRX Expands Operations in Southern Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ  The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) welcomes OptumRX, a division of United Health Care, to Tucson. Calgon Carbon to Construct Carbon Reactivation Plant in Gila Bend

PHOENIX, AZ  The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), and the Town of Gila Bend today announced Calgon Carbon Corporation will construct a new water treatment carbon reactivation plant in Gila Bend, Ariz. This will initially bring 25 high-qaulity jobs to the state, with the potential to increase to 62 new jobs over a three year period, and represents a multi-million dollar investment in the state.

PHOENIX, AZ  The Arizona Commerce Authority today announced it selected DHR International to conduct its nationwide search for a new president and CEO. Nonfarm Employment Up Over the Year by 0.5%; Unemployment Rate Unchanged at 9.7%

PHOENIX, AZ — Arizona’s unemployment remained unchanged at 9.7% for September. The U.S. rate also remained unchanged at 9.6%. Over the year, Total Nonfarm employment was up a modest 0.5% in September. The trend in over-the-year employment losses in Arizona slowed after June 2009 when the losses hit bottom at -8.4%. August 2010 numbers, which were revised from -0.1% to +0.3%, show the first gain following thirty consecutive months of over-the-year losses.
